University of Vienna

Founded in 1365, UNIVIE is a public institution of higher education located in Vienna’s urban setting. It is a nonprofit making organization and is recognized by the Federal Ministry of Education Science and Research in Austria. It offers degree courses in different study areas, including Arts and Humanities, Languages and Cultural, Business and Social sciences, Health and Medicine, Engineering and Science and Technology.

The university boasts of a large student population of about 45000 and an academic staff of over 5000. Their admission policy is open to all students. UNIVIE provides various educational and non-academic facilities such as distance learning programs, online courses, study abroad exchange programs, sports, and library facilities. UNIVIE is a member of EUA (European University Association)

Vienna University of Technology

It is a public university established in 1872. It’s based in the urban area of Vienna metropolis and is licensed by the Federal Ministry of Education Science and Research of Austria. TU Wien is an institution of higher learning that is coeducational with an enrollment of about 30000 students and a teaching staff of about 3500.

It offers officially recognized degree courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students in various disciplines. Their admission policy is selective and is based on an entrance examination. TU Wien is a member of EUA and Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research (CESAER)

Medical University of Vienna

MUW was founded in 2004. It’s a nonprofit institution that offers higher education to both local and international students. It is recognized by the Federal Ministry of Education Science and Research of Austria. It has a student enrolment of about 8000 and offers pre-bachelor degrees, bachelors, masters, and doctorates in various fields in health and medicine.

Their admission policy is selective based on an entrance exam. It provides multiple academic and non-academic facilities and is a member of the EUA.

Vienna University of Economics and Business

It was founded in 1975 and is located in an urban setting of the metropolis of Vienna. WU is a sizeable coeducational institution with an enrolment of up to 25000 students and 2000 staff and is officially recognized by the Federal Ministry of Education Science and Research of Austria. It offers pre-bachelor degrees in Business and Social sciences, Language and Cultural, Science, and Technology.

The selection policy is open. WU provides library and housing facilities, among other services. The university has further accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD- EQUIS) and is a member of EUA.

University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna

It was started in 1872 and is located in the suburban region of the metropolis of Vienna. BOKU is a sizeable coeducational institution of higher education in Austria with an enrolment of up to 15000 students, according to uniRank. It offers degree courses in Engineering, Science, and Technology for bachelors and postgraduate students and has a selective admission policy based on a student’s previous academic grades and records. The university is a member of EUA.

Tuition fees in all these universities vary depending on the field of study, degree level, and student nationality. Thus, students are advised to contact the respective universities to get detailed information. The fee is not inclusive of boarding and other external costs; hence students are expected to cater for their accommodation.
