Get in shape in Vienna

As the warmer months approach, inviting us to unveil our summer wardrobe and dream of relaxing on the beach, the pursuit of fitness becomes more than just a routine – it becomes a journey towards self-confidence and health. Vienna, with its wealth of fitness options, is a beacon for anyone looking to sculpt, stretch and sweat their way to their best self.

From breathtaking aerobics classes to the dynamic rhythms of Zumba, the city pulsates with opportunities to get in shape with no excuses. Let’s embark on a tour of Vienna’s fitness landscape, whose offerings are as diverse as the city’s culinary delights, only without the calories of Wienerschnitzel and Sachertorte. Welcome to a world where fitness meets luxury, where community and personal growth thrive in sweat-inducing sessions and where every step on the treadmill is a step towards your summery self.

Whether it’s tailor-made personal training, a six-pack workout, Pilates or cardio training: Let’s take a look around the sweaty world of fitness studios.

Holmes Place

There is hardly a more beautiful and stylish place to work out in Vienna. There are three Holmes Place studios in the city: in the 1st, 14th and 20th districts. Holmes Place is in the slightly higher price segment, but the premium fitness studio on Börseplatz includes towel service and a six-monthly fitness check. In addition to the cardio and strength area, individual personal training sessions are also offered.

The group courses range from Ashtanga yoga and aqua training to body balance, body pump and kickboxing. Afterwards, a steam sauna, massages and a swimming pool are available for relaxation. Each club offers a different range of services. Cool: The current number of visitors and capacity utilization can be viewed in real time on the website.

John Harris Fitness

In six studios throughout the city, John Harris offers everything the exercise-hungry person is looking for: Muscle building, weight loss, back fitness, endurance, group training, exercise for seniors and pregnancy fitness. All of this is led by friendly and competent trainers.

The wellness and spa facilities are solid and first class. There is also the exclusive “John Harris Executive Club” at Le Méridien Hotel and a medical center with a focus on preventive and lifestyle medicine.

Mrs. Sporty

The club, which is exclusively (nomen est omen) available to women, has 20 locations in Vienna. The concept of Mrs. Sporty is quickly explained: to inspire women to exercise and lead a healthy lifestyle in order to stay healthy and fit into old age. Well-trained trainers help with the selection of exercises: from abdominal, leg and bottom exercises to back exercises.

Target discussions are offered every few weeks and, if desired, participants are weighed and measured to make their success visible. In some studios, a nutrition program and additional courses (e.g. running training) can also be booked. Mrs. Sporty is set up as a franchise system, so the studios are slightly different. Each of the pink clubs offers individual training programs for exercise enthusiasts.

SuperCycle

Founded by two women who believe that fitness should feel like going out – including good music in the four studios in the city. True to the motto “Life is too short for boring sport”, the workouts under the glitter of disco balls are a real blast and indoor cyclists are often pushed to their limits.

Nevertheless, the whole thing is fun and is more reminiscent of a cool disco visit than a sweat-inducing workout. The classes are choreographed and the music has something for everyone. The main thing is that it supports and motivates, because the full-body workout, a mixture of cardio and strength training, is extremely strenuous. Electro beats, pop, soul, hip-hop and R&B can help you get through the 45-minute sessions.

Fit/One

Fit/One is a real giant among fitness studios. Apart from the fact that all four studios are located on the outskirts of the city and some have huge parking lots, nothing is left to be desired in these oversized halls of rigorous muscle building.

On an area of 5000 m², there is (e.g. in Inzersdorf) a Hammer Strength performance center for high-performance customers, cardio machines with TV consoles including Internet access and a separate fitness area with sauna for women only. Very cool are the Les Mills Trips with changing offers for training. The opening hours at Fit/One are also special: from 6 a.m. to midnight, you can work out here almost every day.
